The most exciting trip planning task is creating the blog. This year we're going back to beautiful St Pete Beach on the Gulf Coast. Flying into Tampa next Saturday for two weeks -- my first two-week vacation since 1999.
Pied-à-terre is The Sunrise Resort on Boca Ciega Bay. Take a tour of Unit 304, overlooking the bay. My camera will be ready to capture the dolphins and manatees I expect to see from our balcony. I had hoped for a higher unit, so that we would also have a good view of the Gulf of Mexico on the west side of the building, but we vacillated a little before plunking down a deposit on the hefty rental fee for two weeks, and lost the opportunity for a higher condo. No matter: photos will be better lower in the building.
Since we always travel during the very high season, there were no deals to be found, except perhaps on the car (I rebook about once a week and now have a $280 booking on an intermediate vehicle "Toyota Corolla or similar", booked through www.carrentals.com.
Chris has graciously accepted the volunteer housesitting position once again. I don't think we could leave our little Russian Blue without a live-in caregiver for so long, and of course an occupied house is a safety precaution as well.
